Back in October we left the UK behind for a week and headed to the sunny shores of California to shoot our SS17 Trans Campaign, #WhereWeWalk. Working alongside photographer Adam Rindy and director Eric Maldin, we started with a downtown sunrise and finished with a sunset on Venice Beach’s famous boardwalk.

Stopping traffic intersections to capture the iconic ‘Venice’ sign on Pacific Avenue, our team kicked things off downtown and utilised the local knowledge of models Jacob & Daniel to find the best spots in town for street art, landscapes and of course, pizza. Working hard against the LA traffic, the team had minutes to get each shot as they ran out into the road between light changes; facing the wrath of many angry motorists over and over again.

Moving away from the roads, the team shot against the backdrop of Venice’s street art, including a mural of the infamous and controversial artist Ai Weiwei. Hunting down backstreets, around the beach and its surrounding basketball courts, the bright LA day gave little need for artificial lighting and provided ideal shooting conditions.

As the sun began to set, the boardwalk began to spring into life with cafes, bars and restaurants all offering something different for the beachgoers in search of food and drink. Using the colours of the strip’s advertisements as inspiration, the team set about standing out against the growing crowd and making sure that everybody knew the boohooMAN name.
