We caught up with British music producer and DJ Jacob Plant to talk about his new track, what he’s been up to this summer, fashion and what he’s got in store for 2017.<\/p>\n
You\u2019ve just released your new track \u2018About You\u2019\u00a0with Maxine. How did the collaboration come about? <\/strong><\/p>\n Maxine and I had been working on music for her the week before. We had a few sessions in my studio in LA and decided to work on a house song that I could use. It was actually a really fun session as we all ended up partying after.\u00a0 She’s become a really good friend of mine since.<\/p>\n If you could collaborate with one other artist in the world, past or present, who would it be<\/strong>?<\/p>\n The Clash.<\/p>\n Describe your sound?<\/strong><\/p>\n My music fits under the category of House music.\u00a0 Most of my releases are similar tempos. I do switch up my releases a lot though as I don’t want to release the same song every time. It’s nice to keep evolving and doing something new.<\/p>\n Who influences you musically?<\/strong><\/p>\n I listen to so much different music at the moment. I notice it’s all about what mood I am in and what I am doing.\u00a0 Sometimes it’s metal, rap, classical, dance. It’s good to look outside of the music you make to find influence.<\/p>\n When did you first realise you could make a career in music?<\/strong><\/p>\n When I could afford to quit working at my local Sainsburys.<\/p>\n What\u2019s your favourite song at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n Camelphat \u2013 Cola. Such a summer anthem.<\/p>\n Who\u2019s your guilty pleasure track?<\/strong><\/p>\n Paramore \u2013 Hard Times. I think I play that about 8 times a day.<\/p>\n Where have you played so far this summer? <\/strong><\/p>\n I’ve just come back for playing Reading and Leeds festival.\u00a0 It was insane. The crowed were so good this year.<\/p>\n What is the most memorable performance you\u2019ve ever seen?<\/strong><\/p>\n I went to see Linkin Park when I was 14. I remember being so blown away by it all. I really wanted to be in a band like them when I was younger. I ended buying the same guitar they used and thinking I was closer to being like them haha.<\/p>\n What does a typical day in the life of Jacob Plant look like when you\u2019re not creating music?<\/strong><\/p>\n I moved to LA in February this year.\u00a0 I’ve been so busy working that I haven’t had much time to enjoy it, but when I do, I like to explore and find new places.<\/p>\n Drink of choice on a night out?<\/strong><\/p>\n Ginger and whiskey.<\/p>\n Favourite film?<\/strong><\/p>\n The Assassination of Jesse James.<\/p>\n Who\u2019s your biggest style & fashion inspiration?<\/strong><\/p>\n I love DJ Snake’s style. He’s always got fresh garms and seems to love street fashion.<\/p>\n Give us your best chat up line?<\/strong><\/p>\n I’ll cook you dinner if you cook me breakfast.<\/p>\n Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to make a career in music? <\/strong><\/p>\n Keep trying, don’t stop at the first hurdles.\u00a0 Don’t let failure make you bitter, use it to make you better.
