This wasn\u2019t a normal thing, it was in 1992 and computers were still a novelty. But I knew then and there that I wanted to do this for the rest of my life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Name three artists you had on your playlist when you were younger?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Daft Punk, N.E.R.D and Timbaland.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s your biggest music inspiration?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve learned a lot about lyrics listening to the Beatles, Bob Marley and George Michael. For the rest I don\u2019t have one particular name that I could label as my main inspiration. Throughout the years it has been various names. But coming back to 1992 it was most definitely The Prodigy for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s been your career highlight?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve always set out to make it. But my way up was a very long and hard road with small successes. There was never an pivotal moment, but I remember when everything started to click from 2007 on wards and from there on I realised I was entering the realms of finally making it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What song have you got on repeat at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not one in specific at the moment! My new song perhaps, but I can\u2019t let you hear it yet! This morning, I put on Bookashade\u2019s \u201cIn White Rooms\u201d for some throwback moods and vibes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you describe your sound in three words?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Energetic, Fun and Ballsy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s the best way to get a crowd pumped?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tapping into the energy of the crowd and seeing what they need to keep that going.\u00a0So no mic\u2019s, no standing on the DJ booth, no intro\u2019s. Just some amazing DJing!<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does the UK crowd differ from other countries?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The UK crowd is a very educated crowd. These last 5 years, the deeper genres have taken over the UK mainstream, which is absolutely fine. For the ones that still want a taste of that Dirty Dutchy sound, then our event at Ministry will be a great event to experience that over again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being Dutch, can you give us an insight into the music scene back home?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh that has changed completely now! Our Hip Hop artists are rapping over Moombahton beats and it\u2019s incredible. Think of it in the Same style as Man\u2019s Not Hot, but pretty much all our rappers are doing it, and not as a skrrrrr bap, type of skit! The young Dutch teenagers are eating that up and it\u2019s awesome!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does it mean to you being a DJ\/Producer?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It means really understanding the art of DJing and the art of Producing. It doesn\u2019t mean having your social media on point. Or your logo on point. Or your followers. That all will come later. It doesn\u2019t mean living the life and fly private jets all the time and enjoying being famous. That\u2019s all bullocks. Learn the craft first! DJing is more than mixing in and out of an intro or making prefabricated mashups. A lot of young talent stick so much time in producing nowadays, they forget to stick the proper time into the real art of DJing!<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you weren\u2019t a DJ\/Producer, what would you be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Very unhappy! But I\u2019d probably be a professional martial artist, as Kung Fu is my life next to DJing and Producing. I\u2019m a part-time Kung Fu teacher at the moment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have you got any new music on the way?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have a ton of new music on the way! We are releasing a new version of Rocking With The Best soon and Steve Aoki and I are back with a new banger!<\/p>\n<p><strong>As you know, festival line-ups have been dropping left right and centre, is there any that you would love to go to?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d absolutely would love to go to a more alternative festival. Just to be inspired by all the other great music that\u2019s out there. You won\u2019t find me camping though, I don\u2019t know how people put up with that!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Are you playing any festivals this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I most certainly am! We\u2019ll be announcing these very soon!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which festival has been your favourite to date? Playing or attending.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I absolutely love Tomorrowland. Both for DJs as for the crowd, it\u2019s such a unique experience and it all comes down to taking care of all the final little details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you guys spend your down time away from music?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I practice my martial arts en work on my fitness to stay #LaidbackLukeFit<\/p>\n<p><strong>Favourite film\/tv show?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m currently addicted to the Aqua Teens Hunger Force, it\u2019s super silly. A cartoon for stoners really, except I don\u2019t smoke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drink of choice on a night out?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Probably just one Corona. I don\u2019t drink! Or diet Coke for the fit life ha ha.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If someone made a movie about you, which actor would you want to play you? And what would the film be called?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I would love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt play me and the movie would be called \u201cLiving Life Laidback\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s your dream girl?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My girlfriend, Ashley, who\u2019s been a dream come true!<\/p>\n<p><strong>You have one meal for the rest of your life\u2026 what is it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A double padded Cheeseburger. I pretty much eat one daily anyway! They have the perfect fit meal macros.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Describe your style\/fashion?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Contemporary EDM lol<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who\u2019s your biggest style inspiration?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Daily life, as in, I see what\u2019s happening in the streets and in the clubs, so I\u2019m very aware!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you looking forward to most this year?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The summer, each and every year I get so turned off by winter!
