The new teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnorak has landed, and it looks like it’s going to live up to director Taika Waititi’s promise of making the third of the Thor movies to be the most “out there” yet.
The trailer starts with Hemsworth dangling helplessly in a coil of chains, to which he breaks the fourth wall and says: “Now I know what you’re thinking, how did this happen?” Enter the goddess of death, Hela. It seems as though Thor gets his ass kicked by the supervillainess and finds himself transported to planet Sakaar, where he is captured and forced to do battle in the battle arena as a “contender”.
Rocking a new haircut and weapon, Thor’s first opponent is non-other than the Hulk; ally and fellow Avenger who he humourlessly welcomes as “a friend from work”. As well as the Hulk, the trailer hints that the third instalment of the standalone movie will include a bunch of Marvel characters; Loki, Valkryie, Skurge and Asgard gatekeeper Heimdall all appear throughout the trailer.
Thor’s battle for survival is also a battle against time as he must do what he can to escape Sakaar and stop Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.
Thor: Ragnorak is due to be released in October.
