Chelsea move one step closer to Premier League victory, after beating Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard was the main man for the current leaders, putting his team ahead in just 10 minutes. His shot wasn’t very convincing until a deflection off Vincent Kompany, wrong-footed Caballero, who in all honesty, should have done a lot better to prevent his side going a goal down.

A goalkeeping mistake at the other end of the pitch saw City level it up. A weak-footed clearance from Courtois sailed straight to David Silva, whose shot was saved by the Chelsea keeper, only to be reflected into the path of the Aguero, who of course found the back of the net.

A reenergised City had a couple of chances before a lovely little bit of foot work from Pedro caused havoc in the penalty area, inviting Fenandhino to bring him down and reward Chelsea a penalty. Hazard wanted his second and stepped up to take it. Initially, it looked like Caballero was about to redeem himself, saving the first effort, but was unable to parry away to safety and Hazard followed up to put Chelsea back in front.

Hazard came close to a hat-trick but his effort just inside the penalty area flew way over the bar. The midfielder had heaps of space and should’ve taken more time with his shot. Stones had the biggest head in hands moment as his side-footed volley, from just 5 yards in front of goal, went over the bar and into the relieved Chelsea supporters.

Antonio Conte’s squad keep their 7 point lead in front of Tottenham, who managed to battle back a 3-1 win last night after going a goal down against relegation fighting Swansea. City remain in 4th place as Liverpool step a point further forward by drawing 1-1 against an in-from Bournemouth, who play Chelsea at the weekend.

Our boohooMAN of the match was Hazard. His two goals led his team to victory and his overall game caused City’s defence a lot of problems. He is also the first Chelsea player to score home and away against Manchester City since 2007-08.

Make sure you return to The Manual as we will be back next week with all things Premier League.
