Chelsea move closer to league victory, but Tottenham still have silverware in their sights as both teams were victorious over the weekend.

Three second half Chelsea goals saw the club move another step closer to lifting the trophy. Pedro was the first on the score-sheet with a spectacular strike from outside the box, followed by goals from Cahill and Willian.

On paper, their game against a side who were unbeaten in their last 8 games at Goodison Park, would be Chelsea’s most challenging test in their final sprint for the league title. Antonio Conte’s side now have a pretty easy run for their last 4 games of the season; they face Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion, Watford and last place Sunderland.

Tottenham secured their 9th consecutive league win to walk away with three points at the North London derby, and continue to put pressure on the league leaders as they remain just 4 points behind Chelsea. PFA Young Player of the Year, Dele Alli was first to score at White Hart Lane and a penalty just 2 minutes later was coolly finished by Harry Kane, for his 6th goal in the last 5 games against Arsenal.

Their win over the league rivals left Arsenal fans bitter and distraught, leaving them pointing the finger at Wenger, who still hasn’t confirmed his future with the club. Not only have Arsenal failed to beat Tottenham in both Premier League meetings this year, it’s the first time Tottenham will finish above the Gunners in 21 years. With the North London derby in the back of their minds, a frustrated Arsenal head to Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United.

Unlike Chelsea, Tottenham are still to face some big teams before their season is over. They have the likes of Leicester and Manchester United to overcome if they are to stay hot on the heels of Chelsea.

In other Premier League news, both Manchester sides failed to move ahead in the race for 3rd place. They both gained a point with disappointing draws against bottom of the league teams. 18th place Swansea managed a 1-1 draw at old Trafford and Manchester City scraped a 2-2 draw with a late equaliser from Gabriel Jesus, diminishing Middlesbrough’s hopes of staying in the Premier League.

Liverpool’s Emre Can’s acrobatic volley strengthens Klopp’s top four hopes. They now sit in 3rd place after a win at Watford last night sees them move 3 points above City and 4 points above united.

With just three weeks left of the Premier League, it’s all getting very exciting. Could it come down to the final game of the season?
