As Chelsea become Premier League champions after their 0-1 win at West Brom on Friday, the focus is now fixed on the battle for the top four, and a place in next season’s Champions League.

As it stands, Manchester United are unable to finish in the top four as their 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane yesterday means the highest position they can finish this season is sixth.

However, they have the opportunity to qualify for the group stages of the biggest club tournament in Europe, if they are able to overcome Ajax on the 24th of May in the Europa league final. If Jose and his squad are able to beat the Eredivise side, who are currently battling for first place in their own league, then the Premier League will have five entrants for next year’s title. But who will join them?

League winners Chelsea and second place Tottenham will be heading straight into next year’s group draw, but third and fourth place may come down to the last game of the season, which unfortunately for us football fans, is this coming weekend.

Arsenal have the biggest hill to climb as they currently sit in 5th place, 3 points behind Manchester City, and four points behind 3rd place Liverpool. The gunners will be looking to claim what should be an easy three points against Sunderland on Tuesday, as they host Everton in their final match.

On paper, Manchester City should walk away with all six points this week as they face West Brom on Tuesday and their final game sees them travel to Vicarage Road to play 16th place Watford.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, their top four challengers have a game in hand and if they lose their final game against relegated Middlesbrough on Sunday, with both City and Arsenal winning their final games, then Klopp can say goodbye to the Champions League next year. The reds did hammer West Ham 0-4 at the weekend and will be looking to carry that winning momentum into their last game of the season.

It’s going to be a very interesting week in the Premier League and we are all hoping for a thrilling final weekend of the 16/17 season.
