2017 has been huge year for music. With new names coming out of the blue and smashing the charts, and the usual music moguls continuing to blow us away with their talents, we thought we’d take a look at our favourite albums released this year.

Kendrick Lamar

It’s not surprise that we are huge fans of Kung Fu Kenny, we can’t stop talking about him, with good reason. The Compton raised rapper released his fourth studio album DAMN and topped the charts with tracks such as Humble, DNA, Element and Loyalty.

Drake

Drizzy continued to rule the music world this year, with his More Life album showcasing his adversity by collaborating with grime artist Giggs and changing the game with slow tracks like Passionfruit and 4422 featuring the soulful voice of Sampha.

Jay-Z

The 99 Problems rapper made his return with the epic 4:44. His latest release is the rappers incredible thirteenth solo studio album. Jay used the album to squash beef with other rappers and but cheating rumours to bed, not to mention dropping some fire tracks along the way!

Khalid

Khalid kind of came out of nowhere. The 19 year old jumped on the scene with his track Location, and follow up singles like Young DUmb and Broke smashed the music scene, putting Khalid amongst the greats. His album American Teen truly made a name for the young singer, and his fresh vocals and unique sound rightfully earns him a place in the top albums of 2017.

Stormzy

If you don’t think Stormzy deserves his place on this podium than shut up! Everyone’s favoured grime artist has given this genre of music chart topping success with his album Gang Signs & Prayer.

Liam Gallagher

The Oasis frontman released his first solo album this year and is currently touring his individual talent around the globe. As You Were has shown he’s not just an off the rails mancunian but a talented songwriter and musician. I mean, we are all still keeping our fingers crossed for an Oasis reunion but for now, As You Were will do.

Sam Smith

The soulful singer made his return after disappearing off the music scene in 2015. His two year hiatus allowed him to relic in his instant success and sit down in the studio and create a second, touching the feels album, The Thrill Of It All.

The XX

The London formed trio cracked 2017 with their unique I See You Album. Featuring tracks like Dangerous, On Hold and I Dare You, the chilled out album makes it onto our list.

Harry Styles

It did take a while but we finally came round to Harry’s first solo album. The Ex One Direction member shocked the music world with his individual sound, not to everyone’s taste or expectation but after a few listens, we are big fans.

Miguel

I’m not going to lie, the seductive songs from Miguel’s War And Leisure album take it to the top. Having always been a fan of the rapper/singer, his new album was welcomed with warm ears when it was released and it didn’t disappoint.

Dua Lipa

The 22 year old has made her mark on the charts with her self-titled album and rightly so. New Rules and No Goodbyes are some of our favourite tracks of the year.

Eminem

The 8 Mile legend is back and better than ever with his 19 track album. Returning with tongue twisting lyrics, fast beats and contrasting melodies, one of the greatest rappers in history has officially made his return.
