We caught up with Big Tobz to talk about his new EP, career highlights, summer plans & much more.

When did you first get into music?

When I was in school, about 16 years old.

Name three artists you had on your playlist growing up?

50 Cent, Ludacris & Eminem.

Where and when was your first ever liver performance?

My first ever proper live performance I think was an open mic in Bricklane somewhere. This was back in 2014.

The best & worst thing about being a musician?

The best thing is the love you get and perks, plus being able to be heard & respected. The worst is not really being able to turn back and do normal things like going to Westfields without being stopped and starred at every minute.

Your EP ‘Still Winning’ is out now, why should people go and listen to it?

This is a great project with music literally for everyone and the vibe is undeniable banger after banger; it takes you on an 8 track journey.

How long did it take from start to finish?

It took roughly a year.

‘Sometimes’

‘Love That Feeling’

How does this EP differ from your other music?

I’ve grown as a person and artist a lot since the last time I dropped an EP, so my sound and concept have deffo progressed since then.

Vibey, Personal & Dope.

What song have you got on repeat at the moment?

Drake, Look Alive.

What names to you suggest we have on our radar this year?

Business & Sneakbo.

Are you hitting up any festivals this year?

I just came back from SBSW in texas. I also have SW4, Great Escape and more tbc.

If you could headline one festival in the world, which one?

Wireless main stage because that’s the ends.

Where are you heading on holiday this year?

I’m heading to Italy & Spain.

What has been your career highlight so far?

Definitely performing at all of the festivals last year for the first time; Wireless, Glasto & Leeds & Reading.

Where and when was your most memorable performance and why?

Wireless, the crowd reaction was crazy! Thousands of people chanting my songs & doing the biggest mohspits.

Where, when & who gave your most memorable performance and why? 

Tory Lanes a few years ago when he performed in London. He was climbing walls and all sorts haha.

How do you spend your down time?

Going to the gym, spending time with my chick and travelling.

If I wasn’t a musician, I’d be…

Basketball player.

My Wife & Kids then Coach Carter for film.

Drink of choice on a night out?

White Rum & Lemonade

If you could have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mac & cheese with chicken.

Describe your fashion/style.

Swarve

Do you have any fashion influencers?

I don’t have a specific one.

Outfit of choice for a night out?

A nice designer polo short, ripped jeans and smart trainers.

What are you looking forward to this summer?  

Releasing new music & performing abroad.
