After celebrating an incredible 25 years as EDX, we caught up with the Swiss DJ and producer to talk music, fashion and what’s in store for 2017.

Can you describe your sound?

Deep and Melodic electronic music with a tip of sexiness.

Who influences you musically?

Hard to pick just one! I grew up when Italo Disco was big and acts like Delecation, Barry White used to rock the world (not saying their music doesn’t anymore!) Also early Hip Hop from the likes like Grand Master Flash and The Furios Five was part of the influence. Anyways let’s pick a few artist and tracks from my world, DJ Tonka – ‘Security’, Prodigy – ‘Your Love’ Charlie, Antico – ‘We Need Love’.

How and when did you first get into creating music?

So I met some friends in Zurich, while I was studying, who had their own studios. They introduced me into this whole new world, and I got addicted to it very quickly, as I was taken aback by how free you could be and how cool it was to experiment with different sounds. My early musical influences were actually not from dance music but from those mentioned above!

What do you most enjoy about being an international DJ?

Traveling different countries and get to meet people and friends from all over the world is simply incredible.

If you could collaborate with one other artist in the world, who would it be?

I’m not the biggest fan of collaborations. If you look back at my discography, there aren’t that many collaborations. I used to write music with mates back in the day, but I usually try and target local artists. However, my first collaboration was with Kaskade on his track called ‘Angel On My Shoulder’, which was his biggest hit. I wouldn’t pick someone from this generation – I’d like someone from the previous generation, such as Marvin Gaye or Barry White.

Where is the most memorable venue you’ve ever played?

La Huaka – Lima, Peru. Was really special!

What is the most memorable performance you’ve ever seen?

So hard to say… I have played soo many great shows and I would say there is not many I forgot about to be sincere. My first show in Peru, Lima nearly 20 years ago at La Huaka Beach Club was a magic moment. The Sunset is something I hold within me, same for Club Paradise in Mykonos. My first show in Brasil was enormous too, as well going to South Africa a few years ago for the first time. Guatemala a few years ago, NO WORDS! I could keep erupting here for hours, there simply have been too many moments during my journey I would have loved to share with all my friends and fans.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

There is a few, from my personal 2017 releases I would pick ‘Voyage’, I also like ‘Make Love’ remake by Joe Stone, it brings back one of my favourite tracks form back in the days.

Who’s your favourite artist at the moment?

To be sincere none (when it comes to electronic ones)… I can’t find any consistency that touches me. Well there are a lot of great bands out there that release beautiful monster hits too.

You played this year’s Tomorrowland festival. How do you prepare to go on stage at the biggest dance music festival in the world?

Festival season in Europe this year was pretty awesome, I played so many unforgettable festivals and Tomorrowland was definitely one I was looking forward a lot. I was lucky that I was able to travel with my crew and this always makes the whole journey more enjoyable and easy. I didn’t really prepare it was simply amazing to be able to premiere some new EDX tunes 2017 and see people from all over the world’s true reactions on to it.

Have you been to any other festivals this year? Playing and attending?

There is still a few to follow this year my next big festival this month will be World Club Dome in Korea. I can’t wait to go back to Seoul and eat some Korean B.B.Q. too 🙂 The crowd and people there are in love with electronic music and so thankful for every single talent visiting their country. There will be in fact more festivals before the end of year especially in Asia and South America.

What does a typical day in the life of EDX look like when you’re not creating music?

Work, work, work, family, travel and lots of happiness. I am very thankful about this journey and especially 2017 was again a milestone year so far, I have the best fans, no one has better fans. Blessed!
