He caught up with dynamic German producer, Wankelmut, to talk about his latest track, career highlights, fashion and what’s next. You may know him for his tune ‘My Head Is A Jungle’ which reached chart success with the MK remix.

You’ve just released your new track I Keep Calling with Bjorn Dixgard. How did the collaboration come about?

I was always a fan of Mando Diao. On the other side, my hometown Berlin became important for Björn and Mando Diao since they recorded an album here. At the end of the day the link up was quite easy and we both enjoyed the time together.

Why did you choose to work with Bjorn Dixgard?

I was looking for a strong voice which can hold a good melody. Of course I was looking for someone who provides good lyrics. It turned out great.

How was he to work with?

Very nice. Very professional. We just met again for the videoshoot in Stockholm.

If you could collaborate with one other artist, past or present, who would it be?

Neil Young is someone I really like but I am not too sure about collaborating. At the moment I would love to work with K.Flay (and she knows that)

How happy are you with the finished track?

Very happy! We found a formula which makes sense on the radio and in the club. The remixers did an excellent job transferring it to the dancefloor keeping the original song.

Where was the first time you played it live and how was the reaction?

I tested it at Ministry of Sound in London over that excellent big room system. It went down very well.

You’ve also released a music video for I Keep Calling. What’s the inspiration behind it?

It’s more of a Vibe Video capturing Björn and myself. No serious concept behind that.

How long did it take to create the video?

One day in Stockholm and one week post-production.
