Award winning singer-songwriter, Sam Smith, has teased his followers on Instagram with a series of pictures including himself in the music studio with the caption “recording”.
The 25 year old burst onto the scene in 2013, when he featured on the Disclosure track Latch, and reined king of the charts the following year with his album In the Lonely Hour, which featured number one singles Money on My Mind and the award winning Song of the Year, Stay with Me.
In the Lonely Hour was the fastest-selling album of 2014 in the UK Albums Chart and stayed in the top ten for a record-breaking 67 consecutive weeks – the longest run for a debut album. The album sold 8.5 million copies worldwide and made Sam into a superstar. He himself went on to win multiple awards and even recorded the prestige soundtrack, Writing’s On The Wall, for the James Bond film Spectre.
After such an incredible start to his career, the singer has been taking a well-earned break. The last we heard from Sam was in 2015 with his Comic Relief version of Lay Me Down featuring John Legend, and covers of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know and Amy Winehouse’s Love Is a Losing Game. He also teamed up once more with the Disclosure duo for the track Omen on their Caracal album.
Sam’s worldwide fans have been eagerly awaiting his follow up album and his return to the limelight. Could be ‘recording’ album number 2 in these posts? We certainly hope so.
