After celebrating the birth of his twins, Jay Z was quick to announce another creation of his was about to be introduced to the world.
The 99 Problems rapper revealed that his new album, titled 4:44, will drop on June 30th. This follow up solo album to ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, which was released way back in 2013 and flew to number 1 in the Billboard Charts that year, will be available on Jay Z’s music streaming platform, Tidal, and for all subscribers of Sprint, after their $200 million investment in Tidal a few months ago.
The numbers 4:44 with the date 6.30.2017 was posted all over social media, billboards and subway walls in NYC and LA. We found the connection with Jay Z when we saw the video last week released on Tidal. Fittingly released on Father’s day, the 30 second clip features a sneak peak of his new track, “Adnis”, seemingly to be heavily based on Jay Z’s Dad, with lyrics like “Letter to my dad that I never wrote … Speeches I prepared that I never spoke”. The video includes Mahershala Ali, star of Oscar winning movie, Moonlight.
The hip hop mogul has been extremely busy over the past few weeks; from a new album launch and his twins being born, Jay Z is now the first rapper to be inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He’ll also be promoting 4:44 around the US and is joining us here in the UK when he headlines V Fest this year.
