We first heard about Khalid last year, when he hit the charts with incredible track Location. With musical influences such as Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and Frank Ocean we could see that Khalid was one to watch with his R&B/Soulful tone and unique tracks. He released his debut album ‘American Teen’ in March, and the 19 year old has since featured on Calvin Harris’ summer track, Rollin.
School’s out in Khalid’s music video for his Young Dumb and Broke single. He takes us around the last day of term at an American High School and almost like a real life year book, the video shows us the various social classes as students are given their status awards; “Most Likely to Not Give a Fuck,” “Best Hair,” and “Class Clown” are to name a few. The video touches on the range of emotions experienced on the last day of school with students crying, laughing and dancing their way into adulthood. Khalid certainly looks like he had fun with the video, only just graduating himself, the singer shows off his moves in the gymnasium, with the lunch man and in the middle of a football field. With a future as promising as his, I’d be dancing too!
