Jumanji has received its welcome to the 2st century with a new trailer, which gives us an insight to what we can expect from the re-boot. We say re-boot, but the only real link the new film has to the original is well, the title.

Yes, the story does follow a game that is brought to life, but unlike the original film with beloved actor Robin Williams, the characters are this time taken into ‘Jumanji’, finding themselves transformed into the game’s avatars. Oh, did I forget to mention that there is no longer a board game? The characters won’t have to roll the dice to decide their fate, they just need to plug the game into a power source, choose their avatar and ultimately, try to survive.

It is a bit disappointing that Jumanji 2: Welcome To The Jungle has steered so far away from the original. But, with an all-star cast including Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson and Karen Gillan, the film does have a lot of comedic promise.

Let’s hope so, it has some pretty big shoes to fill with the success of the first film.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle is due to be released in December.
