So Peter Kay fans, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The comedian from Bolton announced yesterday that the BBC1 comedy, ‘Car Share’, has come to the end of the road. The hilarious programme surrounding two work colleagues, John & Kayleigh, sharing their daily journey to work, has become extremely popular across the country and the devastating news will hit hard to many of the shows fans.
Peter Kay, who plays John, released the news that there will be no third series and to push the knife deeper into our hearts, said there will be no Christmas special either. He said: “You’ve got to go out while the goings good.” Well we like good Peter, and we’d like for good to keep going. The show was a hit when it first drove onto our screens. Peter Kay’s wit, charm and contagious laugh, was matched perfectly with co-star, Sian Gibson’s fun and careless humour. The two made a hysterical duo that had the nation in stitches. Try and watch the “Lady Dianna” scene in series 1 without laughing. Sian also agreed that the show has reached its limits, saying “there’s only so much you can do in a car and the last thing I want to do is ruin it”.
Well, as one door closes another one opens, and this door has swung open with smoke machines, flashing lights and loud music. Are you ready for the good news? After upsetting fans with the shattering announcement of no more ‘Car Share’, Peter Kay revealed that he’d been approached to make a third series of ‘Pheonix Nights’, to which he answered, “I love Phoenix Nights and I would love to go back. I’ve got a lot of ideas about Phoenix Nights. In fact there’s a whole series three been written for about 15 years”.
We’d love to see another series with The Pheonix Club, and all the quirky characters who come with it.
If you’ve missed ‘Car Share’, you can get the whole second series on BBC iPlayer. If you haven’t seen the comedy programme before, we highly recommend.
