Denim. People have been wearing it for decades and it’s become a staple in pretty much everyone’s wardrobe. With spring in full swing, it’s time to set aside your chunky knits and overcoats to make way for some spring wardrobe updates. We’ve compiled five top tips to follow when dressing your denim this season.

  1. Double It Up.

In most cases, double denim can be a risky move and considered a taboo in certain social groups. Pair two wrong shades together and you’ll look like you’ve just landed yourself back in the 90s. The safest way to rock double denim is to choose some black jeans and for the risk takers, white jeans also work for an on trend spring look. The main man Kanye West is renowned for rocking the double denim fit and smashing it.

  1. Distress It.

Distressed denim was huge last year and doesn’t look like it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s a trend that’s completely dominated clothing rails and is a perfect choice for spring. Ripped denim jeans aren’t your only option, however. Ripped jackets and shirts also offer a grunge, street vibe to your spring outfit. Justin Bieber is a perfect example of someone who loves a bit of ripped denim.

  1. Layer It.

Layers always look on point. Of course with spring arriving, you have to consider the weather. However, team an oversized t-shirt with a flannel checked shirt and denim jacket, and you’re onto a winner. Made in Chelsea star turned fashion blogger Oliver Proudlock has been known to layer up his outfits and complete them with a denim jacket.

  1. Customise It.

Customising your denim was also a popular trend last year. Embroidery, patches and graphic writing are all ways you can alter your denim to make it more personal to your style. It adds character to your outfit; perfect for the more simple pieces that need a new lease of life.  Repeated words look great on the back of jackets and shirts, and aviator patches on arms and on the fronts of jeans also add an edge to your look.
