In the run up to the Champions League final in Cardiff this Saturday, it seems that Gareth Bale isn’t 100% fit enough to start in his home city.

After returning too soon after an ankle operation earlier in the season, plus being out for the past six weeks with a calf injury, the Welsh winger admits that he’s not yet fully fit to make the starting 11, in Real Madrid’s venture to complete their first league and European double since 1958.

The decision to start Bale is in the hands of manager, Zinedine Zidane, whose replacement for the Welshman is most likely going to be the 25 year old Spaniard, Isco.

It seems a bit of a risk starting Bale, who signed his record breaking transfer of €100m (£85.3 m) last year, when he’s unlikely to last the whole 90 minutes; and with Isco raring for his chance to prove himself, would it be a bad thing if Bale sat the final out? And if he does, could this be the end of Bale’s Real Madrid career? There’s already rumours of Mourinho targeting the left-footed wonder.

The debate is up in the air and we’ll see Zidane’s decision this weekend as they aim to beat the seemingly unbreakable, Juventus.

The game kicks off at 19:45 and fans across the globe will be tuning in to see if the Champions League goal record breaking Ronaldo, can find a way through the impenetrable defence of Juve.
