We caught up with American DJ Flosstradamus to talk about music, career highlights, fashion and his new track Tern It Up.

When did you first realise you could make a career in music?

I never wanted to make a career out of this. I have a degree in design. The first time I was able to travel with music I knew this is what I wanted to do.

Name three artists you had on your playlist growing up?

Beastie Boys, Fatboy Slim & Aphrodite.

Where and when was your first ever live performance?

At a small town hall in my home town of Kalamazoo, MI.

What’s the best part of being a DJ?

Being able to travel the world and play my music is by far the best part.

If you could collaborate with one other artist, past or present, who would it be?

Andre 3000.

You’ve just collaborated with Dillon Francis to release ‘Tern It Up’. How did the collaboration come about?

That’s my road dog. We have been touring for years together and we we finally wrapped up one of our 100+ ideas to create the new track.

How long did the song take to create and finalise?

Hahaha too long! We have so many other unfinished songs.

Have you played it live yet? How was the reaction?

Yeah I have been playing it for over a year now. The song goes off live!

How happy are you with the end result of ‘Tern It Up’?

Super stoked! Happy we’ve finally got the song out.

What song have you got on repeat at the moment?

Portugal The Man – Feel It Still (Medasin Remix).

What was your 2017 highlight?

Getting Married.

What has been your career highlight?

Headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago my home town.

How do you spend your down time?

I keep it pretty chill. I’ve been into growing mushrooms lately.

Where can we see you playing next?

I just finished up an Asia run. About to do a few shows here in the states and hit Mexico in a few weeks.

If I wasn’t a DJ I’d be…

A Graphic Designer.

Favourite film & TV series?

It always changes but I’m a big fan of Black Mirror right now.

Drink of choice on a night out?

High quality tequila on the rocks.

If you could have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Pho from this restaurant called Lucy’s in New York.

Describe your style/fashion?

Thrift, free, bootleg & swag.

Who’s your biggest style inspiration?

Andre 3000

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

Live life in Moderation.
